RESEARCH METHODOLOGY IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND SECURITY STUDIES

The subject of the course is the research methodology in political sciences, with an emphasis on the phenomenon of Security. By methodology is meant the process that leads to the selection of the best method for the examination, observation and ultimately research of a political science phenomenon. Each scientific discipline focuses on different aspects of reality, as it is understood as empirical human experience. The observation of political phenomena epistemologically presupposes the understanding of politics as a phenomenon of human activity. On the basis of what was mentioned, the object of the course is the presentation of research methods in a way that is related to the observed phenomenon and the problematic that surrounds it. The purpose of the course is the training in the methodology of researching political phenomena and especially with the content of security, so upon the completion of the course, students that have attended can choose the optimal method that will allow them to provide solid and verified answers to their research questions. Upon completion of the course, he/she who will have attended it will have the ability to relate his/her problematic on the phenomenon he/she examines with a specific method and to document his/her choice. He will also have the ability to design and evaluate research related to political phenomena and the concept of security in the contemporary environment.
